چکیده

Abstract Fish as the primary source for essential n − 3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) cannot cover global demand these important nutrients resulting in a supply gap of currently 1.1 million tons EPA + DHA annually. A further exploitation natural fish stocks is linked to great damage ecosystems. Oleaginous microalgae are could possibly contribute closing this gap. The cultivation photobioreactors (PBR) ‘cold-weather’ climate showed that compare favorably aquaculture fish. present study assesses economic potential food such system model. Techno-economic assessment was conducted on basis dynamic model Nannochloropsis sp. industrial scale Central Germany over time span 30 years. net value (NPV) return-on-investment (ROI) were obtained number scenarios which technic parameters altered. Taking size PBR considered into account, yielded positive NPV EUR 4.5 after years translates an annualized ROI 1.87%. sensitivity analysis overall resulted ROIs between 1.12 2.47%. Major expenditures comprised infrastructure, maintenance labor cost. An extended season by four weeks responsible surplus almost one third (32%). increase selling price 15% 47% higher NPV. In comparison with Atlantic salmon ( Salmo salar ) raised aquaculture, from sp . about halved costs (− 44 60%). we show photoautotrophic not only have humans nutrients, but they also lucrative investment, even where take place year round. An Interactive Tool for Outdoor Computer Controlled Cultivation of Microalgae in a Tubular Photobioreactor System

This paper describes an interactive virtual laboratory for experimenting with an outdoor tubular photobioreactor (henceforth PBR for short). This virtual laboratory it makes possible to: (a) accurately reproduce the structure of a real plant (the PBR designed and built by the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Almería, Spain); (b) simulate a generic tubular PBR by changing ...

A novel horizontal photobioreactor for high-density cultivation of microalgae.

Microalgae are a promising source of biofuels and bioproducts, as they consume CO2 to grow, multiply quickly, and can be cultivated in wastewater and on marginal land. Development of low-cost and high-efficiency microalgal cultivation systems is important to the cost-competitiveness of algae. A floating horizontal photobioreactor (HBR) was developed that is inexpensive and scalable, as it is ma...

[A novel flat plate photobioreactor for microalgae cultivation].

Flashing light effect on microalgae could significantly improve the light efficiency and biomass productivity of microalgae. In this paper, the baffles were introduced into the traditional flat plate photobioreactor so as to enhance the flashing light effect of microalgae. Making Chlorella sp. as the model microalgae, the effect of light intensity and inlet velocity on the biomass concentration...
